Goal: To help every person reach his life’s potential and become a more productive member of our community
History: Area 4 Special Olympics began in 1969 with 35 students from two schools competing in one sport. Today over 1100 athletes from 10 counties compete in an increasing variety of sports. In 1968, Area 4 was represented at the first Special Olympics Games in Chicago.
Sports: Area 4 training and competition is held in the following sports:
- Track & Field
Additional opportunities at the state level include: Soccer, Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Golf, Ice skating & Flag football
Area 4 serves the counties of Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea & Sequatchie
