Andrew Williams began participating in Special Olympics as a freshman in high school.  His first event was Alpine Skiing at the State Winter Games.  He has also participated in bowling, track & field, golf, bocce and is a member of the Chattanooga Chill Unified Volleyball Team.

Andrew’s name was drawn to attend the National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2010.  As a level 5 golfer, Andrew brought home a bronze medal.  Level 5 golf is when the athlete plays 18 holes independently.  Andrew was required to walk the course for 3 days just as the pros do.

In 2011, Andrew was chosen to participate in the National Invitational Tournament in golf in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Here again Andrew was required to walk the course for 3 days, and on the last day, at the last hole was able to defeat his opponent by 1 stroke to bring home the gold medal.

Congratulations to Andrew Williams for being named the Special Olympics TN Area 4 Athlete of the Year!
